What is Neuro Linguistic Programming? (NLP)

NEURO – relates to the nervous system and how people’s experiences are processed through the five senses.

LINGUISTIC – relates to the language we use including our non verbal communication.

 

PROGRAMMING – relates to our ability to organise and achieve desired results and goals.

 

In simple terms NLP is a model of how individuals structure their experiences and provides a powerful method of understanding into why we think and act the way we do.

 

NLP is a methodology in its own right which can be applied in many fields including therapy, business, sports and sales. NLP is able to demonstrate that the resources an individual needs are already within them; they just need to be unlocked.

 

Although NLP uses many different and powerful techniques it is missing the point to just think of NLP strictly in these terms. Unlike many other therapies with NLP, POSITIVE CHANGE can occur both quickly and effectively.

 

NLP can be used to get the key to the door when delving into our conscious and unconscious behaviour leading to the ability to change the way we think, act and work.

 

An important concept of NLP is that the MAP we make in our minds is not the reality. NLP techniques can be applied in flexible and creative ways to help an individual fit into the world around them resulting in positive changes, more choice and more freedom.
